TaikOz transforms stage into beach in Shifting Sand, 11 - 13 March

In the epitome of art imitating life, Australia’s leading taiko drumming ensemble captures the elemental qualities of our most beloved natural icon – the beach – in their world premiere concert of Shifting Sand at Sydney’s Carriageworks, Thursday 11 to Saturday 13 March.

The award-winning group returns to elevate Sydney audiences once again with a powerful evocation of the ocean’s many faces. TaikOz’s ethereal sounds, thunderous taiko drumming, dynamic movement and dance seeks to capture the beauty, majesty and force of the ocean, from the delicate play of light on the surface of the sea, to the raging fury of a winter storm.

‘Taiko’ is the Japanese word for ‘drum’. For 12 years TaikOz have been blending East and West, old and new, resulting in spectacular performances incorporating a complete world of drumming, song and dance.
