Step right up to fantastic FREE entertainment all Easter long weekend at Darling Harbour HOOPLA - Australia's largest circus and street theatre festival!
Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority will present a thrilling long weekend of mad-cap antics, amazing aerial acrobatics, side-splitting comedy capers, virtuosic circus stunts, jaw-dropping contortionists, spectacular sword swallowers and even hands-on circus workshops for the kids.
The whole family can delight in this fantastic FREE festival - a 'must-do' during the Easter long weekend. The program is guaranteed to leave audiences in awe of the death-defying acts and with a belly sore from laughing at all the crazy mayhem!
This sensational carnival runs from 12 pm to 5 pm each day, and the Hoopla Nights ticketed evening program from 6 pm 11 pm Friday to Sunday night. With six performance locations and more than 200 performers over four days and three nights, Darling Harbour will be THE place to be this Easter long weekend.
This year's festival proudly features the amazing new Flying Fruit Fly Circus show Pirates at the open-air Ringside stage at Palm Grove. You can also see Stalker's mesmerising new physical theatre show Elevate, which combines break-dancing, stilt dance and outdoor movement with a live DJ and beat boxer. This Side Up is a group of highly skilled performers specialising in circus arts and physical theatre combing traditional and popular circus disciplines from all over the world, guaranteed to wow audiences!
In the Hoopla Big Top circus tent the, you can see free performances by some of Australia's best circus and comedy acts including Katie Ding Dong in her hilarious new show Yvonne Calling and an extraordinary performance by Dot Comedy in their new piece The Half Naked Chef.
Then make your way to The Tiny Top for an amusing and entertaining variety of oddities and fast-moving sideshow acts from around the globe in a vibrant, popcorn-scented atmosphere.
The kids will love Erth's Petting Zoo, which will take them on a journey through prehistoric Australia when dinosaurs and other exotic beasts roamed Gondwana. Kids can get up close and personal with creatures big and bold as they pet, feed and interact with them.
Kids can 'run away' to the circus and try their hand at juggling, spinning plates, walking on handheld stilts and hula hooping with circus experts in the fantastic Circusworks Kidzone.
The whole family will love the Buskers Pitch, with high energy busking circle shows and impressive interactive street theatre performances (for a small donation).
As dusk approaches the ticketed shows 'Hoopla Nights' in the Big Top (Friday to Sunday evenings) will showcase some of the best street performers at 6pm ($10) and at 9pm audiences can catch one of Australia's leading emerging circus groups ($15).
Don't miss the wandering madness and mayhem around Darling Harbour from some top roving troupes including Circus Wow and Compagnie Les Goulus.
