Britten A Boy Was Born and Pärt Berliner Messe
Classical
14 November, 3 pm
Information
Presented in conjunction with the 21st Annual Glebe Music Festival, this concert features two diverse and exceptionally beautiful works by masters of choral writing.
Benjamin Britten had written A Boy Was Born by the time he was 20. It is an unusually elaborate work, starting simply and culminating in a spectacular finale, and helped to establish Britten as one of the foremost choral writers of the 20th century.
This year we celebrate the 75th birthday of Arvo Pärt with a performance of his Berliner Messe, a highly spiritual work composed in 1990 that explores choral tonality in a new way, creating a truly ethereal experience.
