Freebies

26 January 2 pm - 9:30 pm

Information

Penrith City Mayor Kevin Crameri OAM said Council was anticipating large crowds for what would be a fantastic day to celebrate our country, with its diverse cultures and natural heritage.
"The heart of the nation will be in Penrith City this Australia Day. It's an occasion to come together to celebrate our multifaceted nation," Councillor Crameri said.
"Australia Day at Penrith Lakes will deliver more than seven hours of first class entertainment for the whole family.

"The Australia Day Spectacular on the lakes promises to be a visual extravaganza, with digital effects and artistic water performances, all choreographed to music and lighting. A spectacular fireworks finale will follow produced by the internationally acclaimed Howard and Sons."
Penrith's Australia Day celebration is a free event provided by Penrith City Council and sponsored by Integral Energy, Sport and Recreation - a division of Communities NSW, Penrith Lakes Development Corporation, Woolworths, Penrith Press, Vintage FM, Panthers World of Entertainment, Blue Mountains Bus Company, Delfin Lend Lease, Mulgoa Quarries, O-I, SITA Environmental Solutions, Channel Nine, Penrith City Star, Hix Group Pty Ltd, Fusion FM, Westfield Penrith, the Western Weekender, and Sinclair Ford.
Australia Day at Penrith Lakes is a pet-free and non BYO alcohol event. Alcohol may be purchased and consumed at a licensed bar onsite. Gates open at 2pm with activities wrapping up at 9.30pm.
For more information or wet weather arrangements on the day, call 1300 736 836 or visit www.penrithcity.nsw.gov.au.
Getting there
Free shuttle buses will operate from 1pm to 10.30pm between the northern side of Penrith Station and the Sydney International Regatta Centre.
If arriving by car, parking from 1.30pm is available within a 15 minute walk to the venue.
From 8.30pm to 10.30pm Old Castlereah Road will be blocked to incoming traffic. At this time it is advised to take the shuttle to join your connecting ride at the Museum of Fire or Station car park.

With more spark than ever before, Penrith City's Australia Day 2011 will dazzle participants with the first ever ‘Australia Day Spectacular'; the largest fireworks and water show outside of Sydney CBD.
A free, action-packed line up on 26 January celebrating what's great about our nation will feature an outdoor cinema screening Aussie family films as well as live music, water slides, rides, sports and interactive displays to transform the Sydney International Regatta Centre into the perfect playground.
The festivities kick off at 2pm with water-based activities, the koala retreat, the Kids' Carnival Corner and a range of market stalls stocking Australiana merchandise and showbags. The spotlight will then be on the Grandstand Stage from 2.30pm with children's performances, dance shows and a live band. Spectators can also head to the Main Lake for awe-inspiring aquatic stunts and free jet ski rides for those willing to brave the thrills and spills.
Who said that you can't walk on water? New to Penrith City's Australia Day is the ‘Aquativities' area where you can traverse the lakes with this summer's hit sensation ‘water walking balls' or take the leap down our massive inflatable giant 12-metre waterslide. For those less daring, spray tents and swimming zones are available to take the heat off the day.
The Twilight Ceremony Water Parade, celebrating our local services, will showcase our community's heroes with incredible live performances on the water. The State Emergency Services (SES) will perform a simulated rescue and set the scene for the Australia Day Spectacular.
