Information

Following the success of his recent debut performance as Musical Director of Bel a cappella, Anthony Pasquill will conduct this renowned chamber choir in a concert of Choral Riches at Newington College Chapel at 2.30pm on Sunday 16th August.
"Together, the fine acoustics and chamber organ at Newington College Chapel make it the ideal setting for this appealing concert of diverse choral riches", says Pasquill.
The program includes two Bach masterpieces - the double choir motet Komm, Jesu, Komm! (Come, Jesu, Come) and one of his earliest and most significant cantatas Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit, (God's Time is the Very Best Time), performed with a baroque ensemble of recorder, viola da gamba and chamber organ.
Also featured is Purcell's majestic 8-part anthem My Heart is Inditing, written for the coronation of James II and the popular Bell Anthem (Rejoice in the Lord Alway).
Other choral riches are Jesus Dulcis Memoria by Victoria, Brahms' O Heiland Reiss and Abendlied by Rheinberger.
In addition, Anthony Pasquill and Thomas Johnson, a final year piano student at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and accompanist for Bel a cappella, will play Schubert's Fantasy in F Minor, Op. 103 for piano duet.
This year Bel a cappella achieved first place in both the Chamber Choir and Sacred Choral Awards in the 2009 Sydney Eisteddfod.
