As you might appreciate, it’s no longer reasonable for us to give our regular term workshops. We are postponing the upcoming term until a later date, once we know more about the progressing situation. For those of you registered for the upcoming term, your registration will be held until we’re able to open our doors back up.
We understand that this is a struggling time for all of us (look, as a bunch of casual employees working at an independent theatre company trying to open up Sydney’s first dedicated improv space, we get now’s a tight time), so any requests for refunds will be honoured. For those of you registered in upcoming workshops, you can even use your registration fees for our new, online offerings. Thanks for your understanding. We hope that everyone’s doing well out there in this new world.
Stay cool, stay healthy and stay home (where you can do some cool new online workshops).
Interested in giving improv a go? Interested in getting more reps? You get better results if you hit the gym more than once a week, so why not come and hit the improv gym between classes, or just because you can and it’s fun. This weekly jam session is an opportunity to try stuff out and play with different people in a safe space. All experience levels are welcome. You can expect improv games, character exercises, scenework and more. Each week is led by a new expert improv teacher so each week is totally different.
Jams are weekly on Saturdays at Improv Theatre Sydney, 44-54 Botany Rd in Alexandria. You don’t have to be an ITS student to join, everyone is welcome!
Improvisation is a collaborative method of creating live, spontaneous theatre. We teach people how to conceive original scenes in the moment, spontaneously discovering ideas, relationships and worlds – all from a single audience suggestion.
Our performance ensemble and student alumni includes Alex Lee (The Checkout), Bridie Connell (ARIA award-winner, Tonightly), Sam Mac (Sunrise), Kyran Wheatley (triple j), Susie Youssef (The Project), David Collins (The Umbilical Brothers) as well as award-winning comedians Steen Raskopoulos and Carlo Ritchie (The Bear Pack), Tom Walker (MICF Award nominee), Bec Melrose (2018 Raw Comedy winner) and more.
