DRJ TRIO
DR J is an Australian experimental trio led by Diego Idarraga Duarte, with Richard Driscoll on double bass and James Wright on drums. Drawing from jazz, progressive rock, and classical music, their music explores form and texture across three instruments, using improvisation as a cathartic channel for mental and spiritual liberation.

Composer-performer Diego Idarraga Duarte is a versatile multi-instrumentalist and conductor who has performed across a wide range of genres and formats — from symphony orchestras and classical solo recitals to rock bands — at venues including the Sydney Opera House and the House of Blues in Los Angeles, across Australia, the USA, Canada, and Colombia. His compositions have been performed by Sydney ensembles including Ironbark Ensemble and Quart-Ed, earning praise from critic Paul Nolan: "This composer approached his assignment with his signature depth of analysis and careful selection of musical material to depict the big picture, however tortured. The players delivered this vivid musical commentary in clear, broad strokes and exciting busy detail."
EPHEMERA QUARTET
"Hypnotic, transformative" DOWNTOWN MUSIC, NEW YORK
"Full of sonic textures and infinite possibilities." THE MUSIC TRUST
Ephemera: a musical exploration of celestial landscapes such as pulsars, craters, planetary atmospheres, stars, the sun and the void. Merging the sound worlds of jazz and contemporary classical and set to real space sounds and projections, it is a unique sonic experience.
The ensemble is led by Keyna Wilkins (piano/flute/compositions), with Elsen Price (double bass/loop pedal), Will Gilbert (trumpet), and the new addition, Jodie Michael (drums). Featuring freely improvised pieces, the group draws on NASA recordings of electromagnetic waves from planets and stars – compiled by astronomer Professor Paul Francis – as a backdrop, often accompanied by projections of space probe footage. Each member brings a distinct voice, drawing from a wide range of musical backgrounds to create a sound world that organically responds to stellar concepts: the universe and universality. They have released two albums on all streaming platforms: Black Holes and Modulations (2021) and Orbits and Riffs (2017).

Formed in 2015, the ensemble has performed internationally and across Australia, including six concerts in Japan. They have been featured at the MONA Evenings Series, the Extended Play Festival of New Music at City Recital Hall, the Sydney International Women's Jazz Festival, Foundry 616, Red Rattler, Woodburn Creatives, Melbourne's Uptown Jazz Cafe, and many more.
