Sydney Himalaya Day Dinner with the Australian Himalayan Foundation
Wednesday May 20th from 6:30 PM at Don’t Tell Aunty
It often begins with the mountains. The dream of the Himalaya’s breathtaking scenery and a sense of adventure. But as many say, what truly makes the region unforgettable is the warmth, hospitality, culture and stories of the local people.
It was the people that inspired Sir Edmund Hillary’s decades of life-changing humanitarian work. The very work that inspired the Australian Himalayan Foundation. As we approach the anniversary of the historic ascent with Tenzing Norgay on 29 May 1953, the Australian Himalayan Foundation invites you to join an evening of community and connection, all in support of their education, health and environment programs in this beautiful and remote part of the world.
This year you will be treated to an incredible night featuring some truly remarkable guest speakers who have deep ties to Nepal, Bhutan and Ladakh.
Jen Peedom, Director of the upcoming feature film 'Tenzing', will share insights about her career making films in the Himalaya. Felicity Volk, former Australian Ambassador to Nepal, will share stories of partnership, connection and the communities she visited in Nepal. The culture and spirit of the Himalaya will be brought to life through a Nepali dance performance by mother-daughter duo Pabitra Adhikari and Prisa Bhattarai.
Karuna Rawat, a Sydney-based mental health nurse and Miss Nepal International 2024, will host the night.
Listen to their powerful stories, enjoy delicious food and celebrate the spirit of the Himalaya.
All funds raised on the night will support the Australian Himalayan Foundation's education, health and environment programs in remote Himalayan communities.
