Welcome to the world of Otto, today he’s coming out!
For 18 years, Tunks Productions has been presenting quality new Australian work, often focussing on the issues of the LGBT community. “According to Otto”, premiering for the 40th Sydney Mardi Gras, continues this trend with a new story about what it’s like for a teen to come out in 2018.
Playwright, Wayne Tunks, is one of Australia’s most successful independent dramatists. His plays have been seen all over Australia, the biggest successes include, “The Subtle Art of Flirting”, “The Girlie Show”, “The Bridesmaid Must Die!”, “Silvertop Ash” and “Bitch”, which was named 2017 play of the year by Theatre Time Sydney. He is a former storyliner on TV’s, “Neighbours”, and in March will release web series, “After Nightfall”.
The show features an amazing collection of actors, both stage veterans and newcomers. The cast features, Felicity Burke (Bitch), Alice Furze (A Serious Business), Cooper Mortlock (Romeo & Juliet), Jacinta Moses (The Girlie Show), Tasha O’Brien (Europe Won’t Fix You), Brendan Paul (The Big Meal), Wayne Tunks (The Subtle Art of Flirting), Andrew Wang (Diva Wars), and a star turning performance by 16 year old, Jasper Musgrave, as Otto.
Part coming of age drama, part comedy, all fabulous; “According to Otto” will entertain the young and the young at heart. Otto has the usual family, parents who love and embarrass him, a Uni student sister who wants to change the world, a pop culture loving Nana and a best friend, Max, who he’s secretly in love with. Add to that, a school bully out for a blood and Otto has a lot to go through before he becomes what he really wants; to be out, happy and in love. Time to delve into the world of Otto!
