Cockatoo Island: Behind Closed Doors

Information

Celebrate the 2026 National Trust's Australian Heritage Festival in NSW with Behind Closed Doors – an exclusive tour of Cockatoo Island.

Accompanied by a guide, you’ll explore a heritage building that’s normally off-limits: Cockatoo Island’s Powerhouse. This is a rare opportunity to set foot in the Federation Romanesque facility and see historic dockyard technologies up close… so don’t miss out!

Plus: Think shipbuilding is boring? Think again! You’ll journey to the heyday of the island’s historic dockyard and hear quirky and thrilling tales that bring this era to life. We’ll share memorable moments – including a daring daylight robbery and an amazing archaeological find – and introduce you to celebrities like Trevor, the submarine-dwelling budgie, and the island’s passionate unionists.

Cost: $35 per adult, $22 per concession card holder, $20 per child (6-16 years old). Children 5 years and under are free with an adult ticketholder. Companion Cards are accepted.

Date: Saturday 9th May at 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 1pm, 2pm AND 3pm
