Letters to Young Men
What does it mean to be a young man today? And how can the adults who love, teach and care for young people create space for honest conversation, curiosity and connection?
On 5 November 2026, journalist, author and broadcaster Julia Baird comes to City Recital Hall with a remarkable group of guests for an evening of ideas, stories and conversation inspired by Letters to Young Men.
Featuring voices from literature, journalism, television and the arts, this special event brings together people with different experiences and perspectives to explore the questions facing young people — and the ways we can listen, learn and connect across generations.
A Conversation Worth Sharing
This is an event designed not only for existing fans of Julia Baird, but for anyone interested in the experiences, challenges and possibilities facing young people today.
Young people aged 15 to 21 are especially encouraged to attend alongside the adults in their lives — parents, grandparents, teachers, mentors and others who care about their future.
Rather than simply listening to a panel of familiar voices, the evening offers an opportunity to experience something together and continue the conversation long after the event ends.
Come Together
Bring a young person you care about. Bring a parent, teacher, grandparent or friend. Come ready to listen, ask questions and share ideas.

Whether you're a young person curious about the world around you, a parent trying to understand the conversations young people are having, a teacher working with the next generation, or a grandparent who wants to stay connected, this is a special opportunity to share an experience together.
