Paranormal night at Old Government House

When night falls and the last visitors depart, Old Government House, Parramatta takes on a very different presence. Australia’s oldest public building stands silent, steeped in memory, shadow, and stories that refuse to rest.

Ghost Tour | 7:00pm – 8:00pm
Your evening begins with a welcome from a former "ghostly" employee of Old Government House before you are led through the residence by lantern light.

This guided tour delves into the lives of those who once occupied the house — not only governors and dignitaries, but also the servants and staff whose lives unfolded quietly behind closed doors. Their stories linger in the halls, staircases, and corridors you will explore.

Along the way, you will hear of unexplained footsteps, sudden drops in temperature, shadowy figures, and disturbing visions reported by staff and visitors over many decades. You will move through all levels of the house, including areas not generally accessible to the public, experiencing the building in its most authentic and unnerving state.

This is history told in whispers, and sometimes, not told at all.

Ghost Hunt | 8:45pm – 10:45pm
As the night deepens, guests are invited to take part in an immersive paranormal investigation within Old Government House and its surrounding spaces.

You will be introduced to the methods and tools used in modern paranormal research before participating in a hands-on ghost hunt, working in small groups to observe, document, and attempt to engage with any unexplained activity that may still linger within the house.

Participants are encouraged to trust their instincts, remain observant, and stay alert. Unexplained sounds, sudden changes in atmosphere, and unexpected responses are not uncommon — and once the lights are out, the house often seems to acknowledge your presence.

This is a genuine investigation, not a performance. Nothing is staged, nothing is scripted, and not every presence announces itself willingly.
