Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA | A Review by Ellie Seymour
A look behind the scenes of Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA in Sydney, discovering the excitement, artistry and extraordinary world behind the Big Top production.
There’s something undeniably exciting about the arrival of Cirque du Soleil in Sydney, and the behind-the-scenes media experience for KOOZA offered a tantalising glimpse into the extraordinary world that awaits audiences under the Big Top.
On Thursday, 15 October 2026, I was invited to join the festivities celebrating the arrival of KOOZA, Cirque du Soleil’s daring acrobatic production, ahead of its Sydney season running from 17 October 2026 to 4 January 2027.
The experience promised something a little different from a traditional media call: a chance to step beyond the public-facing spectacle and discover the people, preparation and atmosphere that bring a production of this scale to life.

The KOOZA Big Bus Rolls Into Town
The adventure began at Campbells Cove, where the arrival of the KOOZA Big Bus set the scene for an afternoon of entertainment and anticipation.
Rather than simply heading straight to the venue, we were treated to a special arrival performance featuring KOOZA performers alongside the energetic Hot Potato Band. It was a lively way to celebrate the production’s arrival and offered a taste of the colourful, playful world associated with Cirque du Soleil.
The Big Bus journey to Moore Park added another element of theatre to the occasion. With performers helping welcome the media along the way, the experience felt like an introduction to the world of KOOZA before even reaching the Big Top.
Behind the Scenes at the Big Top
Arriving at the Big Top at Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, brought the focus to the enormous undertaking behind a production of this kind.
Cirque du Soleil is renowned for combining extraordinary physical skills with theatrical storytelling, striking costumes, imaginative characters and carefully constructed stage worlds. What audiences ultimately see is the polished spectacle, but the work behind the scenes is equally fascinating.
The opportunity to explore the Big Top and meet key artists and crew offered a valuable reminder that a production of this scale depends on far more than the performers in the spotlight. It takes a dedicated team working together to prepare the environment, coordinate the action and help ensure that the show is ready to welcome audiences night after night.
For me, this was the real appeal of the media experience: the chance to look beyond the finished production and appreciate the preparation and collaboration that make live entertainment possible.
KOOZA: Daring Acrobatics and Theatrical Imagination
KOOZA brings the focus back to one of Cirque du Soleil’s most compelling ingredients: the human body pushed towards extraordinary physical achievements.
The production is known for its combination of acrobatics, clowning and physical comedy, creating a theatrical world in which breathtaking skill and playful entertainment sit side by side.
That combination is what makes Cirque du Soleil so distinctive. It offers audiences more than a succession of impressive tricks; it creates an immersive experience in which movement, character, music and visual spectacle work together.
The behind-the-scenes preview provided an opportunity to build anticipation for Sydney audiences, while highlighting the scale of the production and the people preparing to bring it to life.

A Big Top Experience Worth Discovering
What I appreciated most about this media invitation was its emphasis on the experience beyond the stage. The arrival celebration, the journey to Moore Park and the opportunity to explore the Big Top offered a different perspective on a major international production preparing to make Sydney its home for several months.
For anyone who enjoys live entertainment, there is something particularly appealing about seeing how the magic is assembled before the audience takes its seat.
With its blend of acrobatic spectacle, theatrical imagination and physical comedy, KOOZA promises to bring a distinctive sense of occasion to Sydney’s entertainment calendar.
My Verdict
Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA arrives in Sydney with the promise of daring acrobatics and theatrical spectacle, backed by the considerable teamwork required to bring a production of this scale to life.
The behind-the-scenes media experience offered a welcome opportunity to look beyond the Big Top’s public face and appreciate the preparation surrounding the show. For me, it was a reminder that live entertainment is about more than what happens under the lights: it is also about the creativity, coordination and commitment that make those moments possible.
KOOZA runs at the Big Top, Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, Sydney, from 17 October 2026 to 4 January 2027.
