Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA dazzles Sydney with breathtaking high-wire stunts, the Wheel of Death, spectacular acrobatics, hilarious clowns, magical costumes and a live musical score in an unforgettable Big Top experience.
A Big Top Welcome Like No Other
There is something magical about arriving at the Big Top, where the excitement begins long before the show itself. On opening night, 22 October 2026, I joined the festivities at Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, as Cirque du Soleil welcomed audiences back with KOOZA — a spectacular celebration of circus artistry, comedy and theatrical imagination.
The atmosphere throughout the Big Top precinct was pure party, with a vibrant, welcoming energy that invited everyone to join the fun. A lively brass band added to the festivities, setting the tone for an evening filled with colour, music and anticipation. From the moment you arrive, you feel part of something special.
Step inside the Big Top and the magic continues. The elaborate sets, extraordinary costumes and wonderfully eccentric characters create an immersive world where reality takes a back seat and imagination takes over.

A Spectacle That Takes Your Breath Away
At the heart of KOOZA is The Innocent, a character swept into a fantastical kingdom where the unexpected waits around every corner. His journey provides the framework for a production packed with astonishing physical feats, surreal encounters and moments of genuine suspense.
The acrobatics are nothing short of breathtaking. Watching performers take to the high wire demands every ounce of concentration from the audience, with each movement creating a delicate balance between precision and peril. The Wheel of Death delivers another heart-stopping highlight, as performers demonstrate extraordinary courage, timing and control on this formidable apparatus.
Throughout the show, the acrobats push the boundaries of what seems physically possible. Their strength, flexibility, balance and coordination are remarkable, but it is the sheer daring of their performances that makes these moments so thrilling. You find yourself holding your breath, wondering how they can possibly take the next step — and then marvelling as they do.
The spectacular acrobatics are seamlessly woven into the production, ensuring that every act contributes to the larger theatrical experience rather than feeling like a series of separate performances.
Hilarious Clowns and Theatrical Mischief
For all its high-octane action, KOOZA never takes itself too seriously. The hilarious clowns inject plenty of mischief into the proceedings, playing with audience expectations and delivering laugh-out-loud moments that provide the perfect counterpoint to the daring feats.
Their playful antics help keep the atmosphere light and inclusive, making the show as entertaining for those who love physical comedy as it is for anyone drawn to the breathtaking circus acts.
This contrast between suspense and silliness is one of the production’s greatest strengths. One moment you are gripping your seat, the next you are laughing at an unexpected gag. It is a wonderful reminder that circus is as much about joy and connection as it is about astonishing skill.

Music, Costumes and Pure Theatrical Magic
KOOZA is a feast for the senses, with magical sets, vibrant costumes and imaginative characters transporting the audience into its wonderfully eccentric universe.
Adding another layer of spectacle is the live orchestra and talented singers, who perform a perfectly crafted score that complements the action on stage. The music moves effortlessly with the production, heightening the tension during the daring acts and adding warmth, energy and emotion to the more theatrical moments.
The combination of live music, striking visual design and extraordinary performers gives KOOZA a scale and richness that sets it apart. Every element feels carefully considered, working together to create a cohesive and immersive experience.
My Verdict: A Spectacular Night Out
KOOZA is far more than a circus show. It is a full-scale theatrical event that begins with the infectious party atmosphere of the Big Top precinct and continues through a dazzling succession of breathtaking acrobatics, hilarious comedy, spectacular costumes and live music.
The high-wire performances and Wheel of Death are genuine edge-of-your-seat moments, while the clowns keep the laughter flowing. Add the magical sets, brilliant score and extraordinary athleticism, and you have an evening of entertainment that delivers on every level.
What I loved most was the sense of occasion — the feeling of being welcomed into a world where anything is possible and where audiences of all ages can share in the excitement.
Cirque du Soleil has created a spectacular escape from the everyday, celebrating human creativity, courage and imagination. If you are looking for a night filled with thrills, laughter and theatrical wonder, KOOZA is well worth experiencing.
