A high-energy reimagining of the best video game scores by a seven-piece jazz band, Gamer Jazz has been presented at the Perth Fringe World Festival for three years, before coming to Sydney Fringe for the first time. This show will be on at the Eternity Playhouse in Darlinghurst on September 2nd and 4th at 8pm. General admission tickets are $45 plus fees.
Music has always been part of the way we tell stories. As video games have come into their own as a storytelling medium, their soundtracks have also evolved to rival those of theater and film.
Saxophonist and bandleader James Sewell takes an S-Tier team of players on a speed run through the history of video game music, featuring quirky reimaginings of everything from the classic Nintendo themes of Koji Kondo to the sweeping orchestral sounds of Martin O’Donnell.
