This electrifying double bill brings together two of the Sydney Jazz scene’s most formidable female voices; Hilary Geddes Quartet and Murmurations.
Headlining the evening is the critically acclaimed Hilary Geddes Quartet, led by award-winning guitarist, composer and improviser Hilary Geddes. Featuring Matt Harris (piano), Max Alduca (double bass) and Alex Inman-Hislop (drums), Hilary Geddes Quartet presents music from ABC Jazz Album of the Week Redleaf alongside highlights from the ensemble’s celebrated catalogue. Come for adventurous, contemporary jazz and stay for the quartet’s distinctively transportive emotional resonance.
Led by vocalist, bassist and composer Sabine Tapia, newcomers Murmurations draw on contemporary jazz, folk and improvised music traditions to create rich, textural soundscapes. Shaped by collective creativity and a uniquely Australian voice, the band comprises three musicians individually defining the new generation of Australian jazz; Sabine Tapia (bass, compositions and vocals), Tom Odell (keyboard) and Alex Inman-Hislop (drums).
